Who Said, "Academics Have to be Boring"?

Learning can take many forms, and in the grade 1/2 class, anything is possible with the amazing Mrs. A and her "Jellybeans", from carpet time to buddy learning (with gr 6 students).
The 2021-22 school year has started and the students are back in classes!  Although masks have become a regular part of the school uniform we are beginning to return to a more normal setting.
In the first few weeks, FCA participated in "Student Votes" in conjunction with the federal election, and the Student Council has started planning and organizing school-wide activities, and, the Home & School Association is up and running.  Check in frequently to see more updates.  You can also follow our activities on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/FCAschoollife

The Junior High class has been studying "The Breadwinner" by Deborah Ellis.  As part of the experience, they prepared Afghan food (including fresh Naan bread) and enjoyed a traditional meal together.

Elementary students are learning about electrical circuits in science, and learning how to play Mancala (a traditional African game) as part of ERC class  and of course, just having fun in the snow!

"In 1945, the Dutch royal family sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa in gratitude for Canadians having sheltered the future Queen Juliana and her family for the preceding three years during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands in the Second World War."  This year, The Canadian Tulip Festival, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the National Capital Commission are celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands with the Liberation75 Tulip.  The goal is to plant 1.1 Million Liberation75 Tulips across Canada in honour of the 1.1 million Canadians who served during the Second World War.
1,100 schools have been presented with 75 bulbs each to help honour those who served in WW2 and to honour our continuing ties and friendship with the people of the Netherlands. Faith Christian Academy is one of those schools and this week our students will be planting this beautiful tribute at the front of the school for all to enjoy next spring.

All Canadians are welcome to pre-order these limited edition bulbs online, plant them this Fall before the ground freezes and share the blooms with us in Spring 2020.
